About voting weight and integrity

“But, where’s the beans?” I ask my dinner companions.
“A tostada has to have beans?” They ask.
“A tostada is a fried flour tortilla, with beans, cabbage, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and shredded cheese. This is very good, but it’s not a tostada.” I was referring to the little round blue corn tortilla chip, topped with ahi tuna and micro greens.

For my first members-only meeting at Raid Guild, I wore red lipstick. No one saw it but me, because the calls are on Discord, with no video. Sasquatch championed me, Tae showed me around the channels and plor and I have been meeting weekly ever since. My voting weight is insignificant and I haven’t been successful at passing a proposal. I had thought I’d be able to earn voting power.

Love Fest proposal passed last week for FWB. Voter turnout was roughly 0.05%. Feedback on Snapshot was requesting “a broader more inclusive method for sourcing and vetting.” The proposal includes a $5,000 donation from Fest ticket sales to Nour Charitable Society, which serves disabled Palestinian women and children, and a panel discussion during Fest. My challenge is to facilitate this discussion so the community is actively participating.

At DAO Palace 2022, participants didn’t agree on what a DAO is and what it isn’t. Some insisted that power be decentralized and members be autonomous. Others we’re fine with it just being an organization, with some form of voting.

Nouns proposals added ragequit and then a fork, allowing NFT holders to profit off the DAO’s treasury. Nouns has recovered and their treasury is sizable. Pretty attractive for more ideas to profit off that treasury. At least there’s a way to earn voting power, by being delegated a Noun.

MolochDAO is fallow and MetaCartel has become MetaCamp/MCON. At least there’s Public Nouns and Octant. I’d recommend starting the social vetting process now, if you’re considering applying for a grant in the future.

As a little girl, my family spent New Year’s at my grandparents. My cousins and I would sleep on the floor in the living room, while our parents and grandparents celebrated and claimed our spot on the Rose Parade route. In the morning, we ate homemade menudo, with pan dulce and Mexican hot chocolate. Then we all piled into the car, with kids sharing seat belts, to watch the parade.

The last time I poured drinks behind a bar was for a one night event on New Year’s eve. It was just as you’d expect, glitter, top 40’s and booze. Some resolutions from the event patrons probably came true that year, but I doubt if anything was notable.

Let’s celebrate Groundhog Day together.
