Chones Party with Sky

On September 18, 2025, I had the privilege of sharing a conversation with Sky during Chones Party!

Sky is advisor to Chones and a full time DAO contributor. You can follow him on X.

He shared about decentralization, digital ownership and ownership economy.

Here are some highlights!

00:35  Not giving up on decentralization

01:58 POA Network & Blockscout

It’s all open source; anyone in the world can contribute to it.

I learned and saw the power of decentralization and open source software.

06:38  Early DAOs

07:16  Chones <3’s Sky

I’ve always liked the idea that you can be part of lots of different communities and projects in the space, and bring and share lessons you’ve learned from one community into another community.

09:09  Bitcoin as digital gold

10:41  Educate people about digital ownership

It’s only a matter of time, everyone will eventually own and have digital things.

Owning crypto is one thing, but you need to understand what it means to own it, how you own it and why it’s important.

Without understanding what it is, why you’re using it, and how you use it, then you might as well just use a centralized system.

12:42  Why decentralization

The minute there’s a centralized counter party, you actually probably won’t have ownership.

14:32  Why DAOs aren’t going anywhere

Whether it’s a big DeFi protocol, or a new Web3 social protocol, those have to be owned by a decentralized governance system in order for the system and product to actually be decentralized.

17:18  Real talk about DAOs

If you bring some new idea to a DAO, and it’s some contentious thing, and you know 51% of the people are going to love the idea and 49% of the people are going to hate the idea, it’s probably an idea that could use some more negotiations, some more constructive criticism, to get the idea to a point where more of the people in the DAO are excited about it.

19:29  Mission, delegation & evaluation

Anyone in the world can contribute to a DAO, without the DAO’s permission. That’s the autonomous part; everyone’s autonomous. It doesn’t mean that the DAO operates automatically. Blockchain and DAOs: nothing ever happens automatically.

Once you’ve solved delegation, the next important thing is evaluation.

25:35  Tech that solves a need

27:08  Privacy in Web3

If you’re going to start using crypto in the real world, having it linked to your wallet…then anyone can watch all your payments on it.

We’re not going to have a billion people using this stuff if there’s not this privacy.

35:53  Ownership Economy

In the Web3 space, we can hold tokens and have governance in systems that we use, like and care about.
