Remember that part in Ready Player 1 when Wade goes backwards at the start of a race and a path opens up, under the race track? I feel like I’m trying to build that hidden track underneath, away from faster and faster speeds, with all sorts of obstacles.
The feed is mostly noise. We’re going to have infinite apps with access to the infinite internet. Think homemade short video content, but with buttons and transactions. I’m a snake and Gangnam Style as builders, translates to clickbait for robots.
We don’t need developers to make an app anymore. Anyone can build whatever they want with AI. I’m looking forward to weird apps, made by random people, on the internet. That part will be fun! I’m not looking forward to even more ways my data, wallet, identity etc can be compromised.
This is the above ground race. More attention, more transactions, faster development, newer ideas, faster iteration! With AI, I’m an attorney, doctor, programmer, artist, and all my ideas are worth trying out at least once, because it only takes AI usage credits, and hardly any time.
Do you want to try any of my apps? Will you use my tax preparation app if I’m not an accountant? Will you download your results from my personality test app if you have no idea who/what I am? No, you’re smarter than that.
The hidden underground track that I’m trying to build is calm, quiet and smooth. There aren’t obstacles and the track takes me to where I want to go. Applying this to the internet, it’s filtering out the robots, scams and hype, without getting left behind.
Just because anyone can make anything doesn’t mean we can trust everything being made. We need to use discernment before interacting with products and services.
Lucky for me, Chones friends & family are my favorite lab rats in lab coats, so we’re testing how to functionally make this happen.
Our communication channel is a 2.5 year old Telegram channel, where each person is invited by someone already in the channel. I invited most everyone, but others also have that permission. We’ve tried other apps, but this channel has been the most reliable for ease of communication.
Products, services and projects from Chones Friends & Family can be found on Chones website. Anyone can click through and find what they need, or they can reach out to us for concierge service to help discern what is best for each individual case.
Chones Digital Maker Space is how we share tools and services. One member can join another member’s cloud or SaaS. Other members can barter music for copywriting. We can alpha test each other’s apps and coordinate communication strategies.
Yesterday, I launched a mad libs game. I’ve been wanting to play mad libs with Chones friends & family, but I’m also using this game as an experiment in engagement. Can a playful puzzle help bring my target audience to the website, while also filtering out bots?
To play mad libs, go to this Google doc and suggest your weird words!
